Our Year of Stories gift box is a very special way to give someone a whole year of reading. Twelve individually wrapped, specially chosen pre-loved books, numbered so they can open one each month. All twelve arrive together in one rather lovely parcel, ready to provide a new reading adventure every month.

Of course, there’s absolutely nothing to stop them opening the whole lot at once. We won’t tell!

Choose from three genres:

Modern Literature — a carefully chosen mix of Contemporary Fiction and Modern Classics, taking in wonderful fiction from the early 20th century to the present day.

Crime Fiction — modern mysteries and thrillers, with the occasional classic crime novel thrown into the mix.

Speculative Fiction — a mixture of Science Fiction, Fantasy, a little horror, and contemporary stories that venture beyond the everyday.. If there’s a particular flavour they love, just let us know.

Every one of the twelve books is chosen especially for the person you’re buying for, based on their reading tastes. We’ll email you after your order to find out more about them, including favourite authors and the kinds of books they’d rather avoid.

Because this is a special gift, each book is individually wrapped in upgraded recycled wrapping paper and tied with biodegradable ribbon, then packed in a recycled and recyclable shipping box. You can also add a personal message.

It’s a whole year of books, discoveries and reading adventures — carefully chosen by an experienced bookseller and ready to unwrap, one month at a time.

Or, if they simply can’t wait until next month… there’s always the option of a very good reading binge.

A little note about duplicate books

Because the Year of Stories is designed to provide a book for every month of the year, all twelve books are chosen when your order is placed. If you’re buying it as a gift, we obviously can’t know what books the recipient might buy or receive during the following year.

We’ll always use the information you give us at the time of ordering to choose their books as carefully as possible, and we’ll do our very best to avoid anything they’ve already read. However, because the books are chosen so far in advance, we can’t guarantee that they won’t come across one of the titles themselves later in the year.

It’s an unusual situation, but it’s the only practical way we can offer twelve personally chosen books, ready to be opened throughout the year.
